The project, Pan-dulum: A call to unreason is a response to a world plagued by anxiety, and my curiosity about the mind’s constant pendulum between two extremes of instinct: panic and desire. The title, Pan-dulum: a Call to Unreason is a nod to the pagan god of nature, Pan. His passionate and non-rational ways of being invite us into the present moment.
The work continues my interest in exploring new processes of building a painting and in translation of my two dimensional imagery into three dimensional forms.
A selection work from this show and new work, will be shown in Grand Forks at Gallery 2 in February of 2019.
The work was made possible by a generous project grant from the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance.
